How Gratitude Changed My Life
Share
There was a time when I felt like life had lost its colors.
I woke up tired, went to bed heavy-hearted, and in between, I simply… existed. Everything seemed dull, my thoughts felt stuck in a loop, and no matter what I did, I couldn’t shake that grey cloud above me.
Then, one morning — out of desperation more than hope — I picked up a pen and wrote down three things I was grateful for. It was awkward at first. My list was short, basic, even forced. “I’m grateful for my coffee.” “I’m grateful for my bed.” “I’m grateful I didn’t miss the bus.”
But something happened.
The more I wrote, the more I noticed.
The more I noticed, the more I felt.
And slowly, the world started to look a little brighter.
Gratitude didn’t change my circumstances overnight — it changed me.
It made me see again. I started to find beauty in the little things: the way sunlight hit my desk, the sound of laughter in the distance, the feeling of clean sheets at night.
Now, I keep a small ritual — every morning or, on tougher days, in the evening before bed — I write down at least three things I’m grateful for. Big or small, silly or deep, it doesn’t matter. It’s the act of noticing that matters.
Gratitude didn’t just shift my perspective — it shifted my life.
And if you’re feeling stuck, heavy, or disconnected… maybe this is your sign to try it too. One page at a time.
